LE FRENCH MAY 2018
JOCKEY CLUB COMMUNITY OUTREACH
AND ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMMES
With the aim of benefiting everyone, Le French May places importance on art pedagogy and education. Thanks to the support of partners such as The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the general public experiences the essence of French art by participating our education and outreach programmes.
Through its outreach programmes, student schemes, educational tours, workshops, masterclasses and free performances, the Festivals strives to reach the widest possible audience and contribute to the education of younger generations.
The 2018 edition of Le French May will distribute more than 1,500 tickets to youngsters and the less privileged. Over 1,500 visitors will benefit from in-depth tours provided by well-trained docents during various exhibitions. More than 2,000 people will be benefited from the education and outreach activities. Besides, 10,000 free children booklets will be distributed to local schools.
Le French May wishes to be “everywhere“, bringing art outside of the cultural venues and into public spaces and shopping malls, onto the streets and the racecourse, where the Festival invites the public to appreciate art as part of daily life.
As of 2014, Le French May has been part of Project WeCan and works closely with a local secondary school (T. W. G. Hs. Yow Kam Yuen College) to broaden students’ horizons and offer them cultural and artistic opportunities. With the generous support of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, Art Accessibility service will be provided at some of the education and outreach activities, in order to establish a barrier-free art environment.
