This May, Carré d’Artistes is proud to present a solo exhibition by Sophie Costa. This eco-friendly exhibition showcases artworks made of everyday upcycled materials. Incorporating different elements like coke cans and cassette tapes, Sophie hopes to captures memories that can be touched.
A “matiériste” painter and visual artist, Sophie Costa likes thickness, plaster, glued objects, cardboard, and newspapers. She uses everyday materials and transforms them, revisiting and sublimating them. Inspired by the Pop Art movement, Sophie works in two ways: with coatings, textures and structure, and through collages made of cardboard and newspapers to which she adds her iconic objects to.
