Éclair
In celebration of Ravel's 150th birthday, the performers will present his piano solo piece, Sonatine, adapted for flute and piano, and his La Valse for two pianos, paying tribute to this master. While the essence remains, the changes in timbre offer a fresh interpretation.
Debussy and Ravel’s music embodies the Impressionist style, evoking a dreamlike quality with rich colours flowing like water. In contrast, the works of Les Six respond with a neoclassical approach. The second half will explore the nature of change and transformation, featuring local guest musicians in a chamber format. We will also highlight works by composers such as Albert Périlhou, Mel Bonis, and André Jolivet in the concert.
As the Diamond Sutra states, "All conditioned things are like a dream," reminding us of impermanence. We hope this performance will provide a space away from the hustle and bustle, allowing the audience to enjoy the present and seize each unique moment.
The classic French dessert éclair, with its delicate texture and rich flavours, mirrors the charm of music. Audiences are warmly invited to join this musical feast, embarking on a sensory adventure that resonates with both taste and sound – ephemeral yet worthy of reflection.
